Wedding Talks #5: Your Lips but Better ft. Charlotte Tilbury

It is time to talk about lips – wedding lips. I have always been very specific about what I wanted. I am not the kind to pull out a red or bright lipstick on my wedding day and, for me, that is not what a bridal makeup look is about. For me, a bridal makeup is something that enhances the bride’s natural beauty and that is my main focus for my wedding makeup.

So for my lips, I wanted something that looked like my lips but better. A little bit more pigmented but still true to my natural color and that felt comfortable on the lips – not to drying or too glossy. And now that I found the one and only, it’s time to share it with you guys.

The Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lipstick – no surprise? I imagined that. This is probably the most talked about lipstick in the Charlotte Tilbury collection and there is a good reason why – this is the lipstick that will most likely suit any makeup look, any occasion and it has a beautiful formula.

After trying a few different lipsticks and even liquid lipsticks hoping for a longer lasting product but that is still comfortable to wear, I gave up and turned around to the most obvious option.

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk was the first lipstick that came to my mind when I thought about my wedding makeup. I had never tried it before but knew that a lot of bloggers raved about it.

Yet, I didn’t want to give in. I wanted to find another one and maybe a more affordable option. I have said here that I am not a big spender when it comes to makeup – or I wasn’t. With this wedding makeup thing I started buying more high end products because I want everything to look perfect and although I am a strong believer that you don’t have to buy expensive to look expensive, I definitely see a big difference on high end products compared to drugstore ones.

So although I could have found a very similar dupe and a more affordable version of this lipstick, I just couldn’t resist when I walked past a Charlotte Tilbury makeup counter and in a blink of an eye I had the lipstick and lipliner in my hands ready to buy. And you know what? I don’t regret it.

Look at this beauty and don’t tell me that I will feel like an absolute princess as soon I grab it to apply my lipstick on my wedding day?

The packaging is absolutely beautiful as makes me want to throw all my lipsticks away and replace all with Charlotte Tilbury lip product because it will just look so pretty.

The attention to detail is what makes me love this product even more – the logo and the engraving on the lipstick give that extra touch.

The formula is really creamy, hydrating but still with a slight matte finish which is my favourite. It last a decent amount of time (no more than any other lipstick) but what I love is that the fact that this shade is so similar to my lip color helps a lot when the lipstick fades. You can barely tell and that, for me, is a massive plus specially on my wedding day.

The last thing I want to be worried about is if my lipstick is looking good and I know that with this one I won’t have to think twice.

Now the lipliner. Was it necessary? Probably not. Was it worth it? Definitely. If you want to increase the longevity of a lipstick, the biggest tip a lot of makeup artists give is to wear a lipliner underneath. It is normally slightly more drying and so when the lipstick is wearing off you might still have the lipliner to save you.

But I am not a lipliner fan. I can easily skip that step even though I am aware that if I used it it would make my life easier specially when I wear a red lip but this lipliner, because it is such a perfect shade for me makes it so easy to perfect my lips, adjust the shape or even over line them slightly if I felt like it without making me look crazy.

It is very easy to apply, creamy enough to slide on my lips and I know I will grab it for an everyday wear.

Are you also a fan of this lipliner and lipstick combo?
