Festive Holiday Makeup & Outfit | Casual Chic

If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you know that I have recently been to my first Christmas Party of the year. I was most excited for it because I knew I could play around with makeup and do a beautiful glittery eye with a red lip – can’t get any more Christmassy than that right? So I thought it would be a good idea to take some pictures and share with you how I achieved this look and the outfit I decided to wear.

I am a comfort kind of girl, I much prefer to look comfortable and still feel pretty than look too over the top and be uncomfortable for the rest of the night so that was the look I went for. The party also wasn’t anywhere fancy, we just wanted to enjoy a good night out so it was quite easy for me to decide what to wear.

So if you are not sure of what to wear or what makeup to do, here is what I came up with. Remember that you don’t need to have the same products or same eyeshadow palettes – you can achieve the same look with similar shadows you probably will have at home. So let’s go!

I started by looking after my skin and applying moisturizer and a good primer. To moisturize I have used the Garnier Moisture Bomb and as a primer I have used the Max Factor Face Finity Primer. While all this is sinking into my skin, I went ahead and did my brows.

For that, I used the Maybelline Brow Precise Micro Brow Pencil in the shade deep brown followed by the Maybelline Brow Precise Fiber Filler. The pencil is quite fine and easy to draw with. I feel like it helps me achieve a more natural brow. The fiber filler has been a big favourite of mine and I have repurchased it many, many times. It has fibers that cling to your brows to fill in any gaps. I love how it makes my brows look. It has definitely changed my brow game! I always brush my brow hairs upwards with the brow fiber filler and once it’s dry, I brush them down slightly, to give the shape I want to my brows. I also tend to go with a bit of concealer to clean any mistakes and give them a bit of a more defined look. But this is entirely up to you!

For eyes I had lots of fun. I primed my eyes with my regular concealer and set it with a bone toned eyeshadow.

Then to start with the eyeshadow look, I grabbed my beloved Morphe 350 Eyeshadow palette and started playing around with it. I wanted to do a halo smokey eye and I followed the technique that Desi Perkins used on this video here (and it was also an inspiration for this look).

Fist, I applied shade No 1, a mustard brown, to my inner and outer corner with a small blending brush. You want it to be focused on those two areas and once you achieve the intensity you want, start blending it up towards the crease so there are no harsh lines. Make sure you always leave the center of your lid with no shadow at all so you can then apply the shimmery eyeshadow.

Follow by shade No 2, any dark brown you have, and apply it again to inner and outer corner to add some depth to the look. Make sure you go slowly with this. It is better to take your time than pack it with brown shadow straight away and leave it all a big mess.

Again, once you achieve the intensity you want, go with a clean brush and blend it up towards the crease so that everything looks seamless and just perfect.

This brown shadow was actually not enough for so I did go with the shade Cyprus Umber from the ABH Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette and deepened it out a bit more. It is up to you if you want to add this extra step or not.

Now for the center of the lid, go with any gold eyeshadow that you have to use it as a base. I applied the shade Primavera from the ABH Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette and topped it up with the Kiko single eyeshadow in 208 Light Gold.

And because this still wasn’t enough for me, I then applied the Makeup Geek Sparkler in Asteroid. You can get it on BeautyBay but it is currently out of stock. It is so, so stunning and it will last you forever! To apply it, you will need any glitter glue and just pack it on as much as you want!.

To finish the eyes, I applied some of the L’Óreal Paris Paradise Extatic Mascara and the Eylure Cheryl Lashes in Sexy Seniorita. For the lower lash line, just go ahead and smoke it out with both shadows No 1 & 2 so it all connects together. For the inner corner, I used the shade Mimosa from the ABH Glow Kit in Gleam.

For the face, I applied the MakeUp Forever Ultra HD Foundation in Y245 blending it with the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. For concealer, I used the L’Óreal True Match Concealer in 3N.

I have set my under eye area with the RCMA No Color Powder and the rest of my face with the L’Óreal Paris Infallible Foundation Powder.

To contour, I used my most recent purchase, the Makeup Revolution HD Pro Contour Palette in Light-Medium.

As blush, I went with the Kiko Milano Soft Touch Blush in 100 and to hightlight, I used again the shade Mimosa from the ABH Glow Kit in Gleam.

For lips, the star of the show after the gliterry eyes, I used the L’Óreal Paris Color Riche Matte Addiction Lipstick in Haute Rouge.

To finish the face and set everything in place, I sprayed some of the Nyx Cosmetics Dewy Finish Fini Veloute Setting Spray and we are done!

The outfit was quite simple and very, very comfortable. I just grabbed my favourite River Island black jeans with this beautiful burgundy blouse that I got from Topshop and paired it with my new, stunning River Island Boots. The bag is from Topshop and it is currently out of stock but this is a very similar one. For accessories, my Daniel Wellington black watch with the rose gold cuff and in the other wrist I had my Pandora Bracelet.

To keep me nice and warm, I threw on my Quiz Faux Fur Black Coat and that’s me done! You can shop the look using the links below.
